Malmö Festival 2025 took place from August 8 to August 15, marking its 40th anniversary as one of Scandinavia’s largest and most beloved free city festivals. For one unforgettable week, Malmö transformed into a vibrant stage of music, art, food, and togetherness.
A Festival of Diversity and Joy
The Malmö Festival offered a packed program. Concerts, dance, street art, theater, workshops, and food stalls filled the city center. Local and international performers shared their talents on multiple stages. The atmosphere was inclusive, creative, and alive.
Wakan Tanka Prod at Malmö
At Wakan Tanka Prod, we took part with a special mission: promoting Latin American music heritage. Our team conducted street interviews in Malmö, asking residents whether they know cumbia music and if they listen to Latin American music. The feedback was fascinating and varied. Some people were already fans, and others discovered cumbia for the first time.
These interviews show how people in Sweden feel about Latin rhythms. We have published these videos on our social media platforms—Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook, so you can experience the curiosity and joy of the responses.
Why This Moment Matters
For our team, the Malmö Festival was more than an event. It was a moment to connect with people, to share our passion, and to promote cumbia in Sweden. At a festival celebrating 40 years of art and culture, spreading the energy of cumbia felt more powerful than ever.
Looking Forward
Malmö Festival 2025 was a week of celebration, discovery, and bold connections. Wakan Tanka Prod is happy to have been there. We look forward to future festivals—and more opportunities to share the sound of cumbia in new and thriving cultural spaces.
